Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, killing women, children and men and accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020, or nearly one in six deaths according to the World Health Organization.Nearly half of all Canadians are expected to develop cancer, which is the leading cause of death, with smoking, poor diet, and aging as major factors.
While incidence is high, 5-year survival rates have risen significantly thanks to the impact and successes in research afforded by your support of organizations like the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Childhood Cancer Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society.
