First of all, everything that I state here is in no way polarity reversed or intended as the opposite of what is expressed. I never operate like that and never will.
On October 7, 2023, armed assailants representing Hamas entered into Israeli territory from Gaza through a subterranean tunnel, in the early hours of the morning and began an attack which quickly grew into a massacre that included many horrific attrocities leading to the deaths of more than 1200 Israeli citizens. These are attrocities I've not forgotten since first hearing about the tragedy on the same morning. Attrocities which included sexual assault of citizens and the burning of children, not to mention the taking of 250 hostages.
Since that time I've stood with Israel, keeping in mind that initial attack upon their soil during peace time, and as the innocent lives of Palestinians, including women and children mounted, quickly surpassing those that died in Israel on that horrific morning. The citizens of Gaza for months have been denied access to even the most basic of supplies, including medicine and food for children, and in the latest bombing attack upon Gaza, more than a hundred citizens were killed, many of them women and children.
Now I have to wonder, if the people of Gaza, the Palestinians, aren't caught in the middle of something much bigger than they have the power to affect and are being murdered by the two blood thirsty behemoths, who in a very short time both became monsters, with the Palestinian people caught in the middle.
Now you might claim that they helped Hamas, or supported them, but let me ask this of all of you who live in North America, Europe, Mexico or other places in the world where there are communities that are run by some form of racket, and currently there are many and that's an understatement.
When faced with the decision as to whether you should support the local racket, whose political motivations are to inflict suffering on a neighbouring state, let's say (Hamas for instance), and they come to your door, looking for support, what would you say, when your entire family is vulnerable depending upon how you answer or what you do from therein. People in the community watch your every move to ensure your not acting against the racket. You're living a life under the watchful eyes of the racket, and the people who secretly support it.
How many of you have defied the ambitions of the local racket in your community? Now what if that racket was Hamas, and then went out and murdered a couple thousand citizens in a neighbouring country, whether it be by direct action such as tunneling into said territory and under the cover of the early morning or by some other means?
You choose to support Hamas and certainly not to defy them, for your own safety and for that of your family as much so as the people in all the places I've mentioned throughout the world pretty much do the same. The only difference is that the Palestinians who in protecting their families chose not to defy a pack of blood thirsty thugs, are paying the price for what those thugs did in Israel.
When there are insurgencies or rackets amok in the midst of society, there are few that defy them, and I've seen that everywhere I've ever been. Those who do, usually get made an example of to encourge others not to do the same. Perhaps making them "disappear" or some other similar fate.
Here's the worst part about it though. Their deaths at the hands of Isaeli munitions will fuel similar such organizations for the next century or more who too will attack Israeli citizens again. They didn't choose sides. They chose to protect their families and ended up becoming the fuel for the next generation of those who eventually will do the same as Hamas did, unless something drastically changes, but I feel the latest bombing, was the tipping point, and no, I do not stand with Hamas or their actions in allegedly defending the people of Palestine, but Israel's actions are giving the casus belli to Hamas, ie creating the justification after the fact. The truth is, that much like the way that Israeli citizens were the victims of a horrific attack, so too were Palestinians of Gaza.
The Oslo Accords were the roots of a peaceful solution, and generations lived under the fruits of those accords for a long time, remembering that Yitzhak Rabin lost his life in backing those same accords and uniting Israel to a peaceful coexistence with the Palestinians.
Its very sad to see the progress of hope burned to the ground the way it has been by the fighting, and its so unfortunate that the perished Israeli citizens from that October 7th morning couldn't speak to us and let us know what they think of what they see, because I bet they'd be horrified to know that Palestinian women and children were being murdered in their names.
So, despite going above and beyond my duties as a citizen of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the owner of Shhhh! Digital Media and its only writer to protect semitic peoples at the risk of my own health and well being, and the fact that I even spent months researching one of the stories I wrote in response to the October 7th attacks, learning much about the history of the region, I have to say that I cannot and will not attend the Stand With Israel march, but I wish it peace and success and more so than anything, the possibility that it may inspire peaceful reflection amongst those who realize that their voices can help stop these attrocities and perhaps spare the next generations the horrors of insurgencies and terrorist acts.
Perhaps the first order of the day is to review the policy of taking complete control of Gaza, as a measure towards such progress in light of their horrific losses. They may consider that the their cries for help were heard by at least some ears. I remember the very day of the attack, and how few people supported Israel in their hour of need. Israel above all, should be the one to hear the cries of the Palestinian people.
