Thanksgiving Day Food Focus (October 13, 2025)


Thanksgiving 2025 in Canada falls upon October 13.

I thought I'd post a page focusing on the possibilities of where you might, if you felt so inclined to do so, send a bit of support as a show of gratitude for the wealth of your situation. Mine too in many ways, though I too struggle to survive and make sure that Shhhh! Digital Media remains online and current. Its a struggle for us all, but relatively speaking, we truly do have it much better than many.

Life has been difficult for many of us, especially on the front of day to day survival, if not from within a very polarized social climate everywhere. However, there are people and places locally and throughout the world who are truly paying the price for these extremities of life and humanity.

Here is a short collection of suggestions as to where many of you as people who have stumbled upon this website, or people well acquainted with it through its infamy, and certainly those (fellow) Canadians celebrating the upcoming Thanksgiving Day Holiday.

I'm focusing on charities that supply food, both to food banks or drop-in kitchens and charities that provide food for the various humanitarian crises throughout the world (particularly Gaza). 

As with all of my advocacy, I don't receive web tracking of those who click links, or kickbacks for charity clicks, or any credit whatsoever for directing you to these charities. The way that I've been doing things here since 2014, back when Shhhh! Digital Media was an entirely different blog called Poetry, Fiction, Software, Graphics, Music, Ideas.

Give what you can. If you can't, then at least spread the word, and not necessarily of this website, but of any of the charities you read about here.


Organizations With Global Crises Focus



Several coalitions of volunteers who are sailing through the Mediterranean Sea on their way to Gaza to break Israel's siege of Gaza and to provide much needed food and supplies to the Gazan population.


We are a coalition of everyday people—organizers, humanitarians, doctors, artists, clergy, lawyers, and seafarers—who believe in human dignity and the power of nonviolent action.



We sail until Palestine is free. 



You can also provide for those who are taking a different approach to delivering food, supplies and humanitarian aid to those in Gaza struggling to survive.


Humanitarian Coalition (Gaza Humanitarian Response)

In order to respond to humanitarian disasters quickly and effectively, the Humanitarian Coalition brings leading Canadian aid organizations together in a united effort to raise funds, partner with the government, and engage the participation of media, businesses and individual Canadians.

This charity also deals with a number of other crises around the world, helping to coordinate the immense logistics required to ensure that tons of food reaches its goal.

Human Concern International (Gaza Emergency)

For over 40 years, our leadership, staff, volunteers, and supporters shared a vision for a world without poverty and injustice. It’s a lofty ideal, but we should never aim for anything less.

Since May 19, the death toll has surpassed 56,000, with over 130,000 injured, the majority being women and children. Homes have been turned to rubble, food supplies have vanished, and healthcare systems are overwhelmed. Gaza’s crisis is no longer an emergency, it’s a catastrophe.

We are on a mission to eliminate food insecurity, and advocate for solutions to end poverty. Together, with your support we can work to feed our communities and end hunger in our city.



We work with food businesses from across the supply chain to redirect surplus food to non-profit organizations in every province and territory.


Local And Global Organizations Ensuring Health And Care For Your Pets



For over 70 years, we’ve been working to create a better world for animals. You’ve known us as the Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International.



Improving the lives of animals with a focus on community services that protect both housed and stray animals in a humane way, and as a source for stays to find new homes. Many services in the service of animal lovers everywhere.
